Toronto and Spamalot

Brett and I have been in Toronto since Thursday afternoon. We are attending the Lutherans Concerned Conference, Open Spirit. It’s at the University of Toronto in the Midtown neighborhood. We are actually staying at the Holiday Inn Midtown on Bloor. Brett has a lot of Holiday Inn points. We chose a free hotel room over the college dorm accommodations at the conference. It’s only a pleasant 4 block walk to the campus.

Tonight we took a night off on the town. We took the subway to Dundas and Eaton Centre for some shopping. Take a look at the signs all over the shopping center advertising pride key chains as the current mall promotion. Would we see that in Ohio?

Afterwards we went to a Portuguese restaurant, Adega, near the Delta Chelsea. It was a good restaurant. I had a grilled Mediterranean fish similar to Red Snapper. Brett had the pork tenderloin. We love these small neighborhood family-run restaurants that are very common in downtown Toronto. You always seem to get great service and interesting dishes.

We had headed down to this area to see Spamalot. We found out it was in town about the same time we got the conference registration details. I got great tickets. We were 10 rows from the stage. What a hilarious and creative play. I am not telling you much since so many things are great surprises in the play. Make a trip up here this summer to see it!

It’s been a very good conference. I am going to try to write an entry about it tomorrow. It’s late and I am ready for bed.
