I have become a real fan of an NPR podcast, The Splendid Table. Lynne Rossetto Kasper from Minnesota is the host. If you are a foodie, I urge you to check it out. It’s a mixture of high-brow, low-brow and everything in-between cuisine. Unfortunately, no NE Ohio NPR ratio station carries the show. So, you will have to listen to the podcasts.
Each episode usually starts out with Jane and Michael Stern with their Where We Eat segment where they traverse the USA looking for the best of the best food items. In this past week’s episode, they spotlighted the Beside the Point Café at the West Point Market in Akron. They rated the Belgian waffle as they best they have encountered. They raved at the apple cinnamon topped waffles. Listen to the podcast to hear more.
It’s actually a casual way to learn more about food. Lynn and her guests, who are typically cookbook authors and food magazine columnists, dish out a casual does of education with some flair. Lynn has a real talent with recipes and food. She usually answers a few listeners recipe dilemmas during the show’s call-in segment.
You can subscribe to the Weeknight Kitchen, Lynn’s weekly e-newsletter where she shares a casual recipe for a hectic mid-week dinner. She recently added a summer grilling e-newsletter, The Griller’s Chronicle, which debuts in June. Subscribe to Lynn’s podcast on NPR. I think you will enjoy it.
