Today Ellen publicly announced that she intends to wed since same sex marriages will be legal in California. She gets a lot of flack since she has pretty much cleansed her show of any LGBT references. I think that it is sanitized for the Mid-America mentality that makes up most of her viewing audience. On the other hand, I don’t necessarily think that she needs to constantly remind folks that she is a lesbian.

Watching this video does show how the audience was excited about her announcement. I am happy for her. Time will tell what the effect of her announcement and wedding will have on her viewing audience and her approach to her show.
