This week was back-to-school week in the area. I have been looking for the photo of me at the bus stop on my very first day of school. I know that I have it, but I can’t find it. In it’s place, I am posting my 1st grade school photo. Rememberr those school photo days?
Good news for the estates of GLBT People
Over the past month, Brett and I have been updating wills, legal papers and moving some retirement monies. We are painfully aware of this country’s discriminatory laws concerning estates and retirement plans inherited by GLBT partners. Today, I received a good news from HRC. The Pension Protection Act was signed into law and it includes two provisions that extend important financial protections to more Americans…
Corn’s ready!
Sweet corn is ready in our area. I look forward to the corn harvest season. This year promises to be a long one. The corn is spectacular with all the rain early in the summer and the heat. My favorite place, Dussel Farm, is just around the corner. I’ve hit them up twice this week. They also have tomatoes and cantaloupes. Take a short drive…
A Tribute to Bill and Kelley
Last week I learned from Bill, a chat buddy of mine, that Kelley, his partner, had passed away. Bill and Kelley had been a couple for the past 21 years; quite an achievement in any relationship. Brett and I had only met them once for dinner in the few years that we have traded IMs and emails. I know that Bill checks my blog every…

Calming Zone
We walked past this traffic sign every day on the way the the conference from our hotel. It was in the first block off of busy Bloor Street. I just love the sense of humor that the Canadians use to convey the message.
Together in Toronto
This past weekend Brett and I attended the 2006 Lutherans Concerned Assembly, Together in Toronto. This biennial event was ecumenical this time with the GLBT Lutherans joining with fellow queers from the United Church of Canada, Brethrens and Mennonites. Toronto is always a beautiful city and the University of Toronto and surrounding Midtown neighborhood was very Toronto-like. The assembly did not really meet my expectations….
Toronto and Spamalot
Brett and I have been in Toronto since Thursday afternoon. We are attending the Lutherans Concerned Conference, Open Spirit. It’s at the University of Toronto in the Midtown neighborhood. We are actually staying at the Holiday Inn Midtown on Bloor. Brett has a lot of Holiday Inn points. We chose a free hotel room over the college dorm accommodations at the conference. It’s only a…
