Amish Country Road Trip

We took a free day to see some of the Ohio fall foliage that is in full color. Unfortunately it was overcast and drizzling most of the day. We set out for Orrville to see the newly remodeled Simply Smuckers. It was greatly enlarged and featured many of their newly acquired products. I bought some interesting items I’ve never seen. One item was an all natural blackberry applesauce.

It was then off to Mt. Hope for a visit to the bulk food store in town. We discovered it many years back. It’s a true Amish bulk food store with good prices. I like to make a trip right before the holiday baking and cooking season. We ate at Mrs. Miller’s right across the parking lot. It’s a pretty good Amish style restaurant. I definitely blew the Weight Watchers diet there.

We finished the afternoon at Sunny Slope Orchard, a favorite stop of mine on Rt. 241. It’s so scenic, so Ohio and one of my rites of fall. The ride was beautiful despite the weather. The roads between Orrville and Mt. Hope were mostly back roads with mostly Amish farms. It’s a nice way to say goodbye to fall as we approach winter.
