Spring, finally…

Nice weather finally arrived. We took Saturday off for some fun. I coordinated another mystery day trip for church. The theme was “Tiptoeing through the Tulips”. We started the day at Simply Smuckers in Orville. I made a good find at the store, sugar-free breakfast syrup. Another shopper told me it was superior to any other sugar free syrup. They were right. It is delicious. I have also been told that it is not readily available in most stores yet. We’ll stop on out next trip to Amish country.

We made a brief stop at Shisler’s Cheese for some cheese and baked goods. Next we had lunch in Shreve at the Pine Tree Barn. The scenery is the best and the food the same. I had a delicious black and blue salad of grilled steak, blue cheese and grilled peaches. Brett had a spring quiche and cheesy chicken chowder.

We were to continue on the Kingwood Gardens in Mansfield. It was spitting rain, cloudy and cooling down. We made a group decision to forgo the gardens because of the inclement weather. Instead we opted to visit the expanded and remodeled Lehman’s Hardware ion Kidron. It’s always a favorite.

I love the stacks of Amish basics. They actually have a great kitchen gadget selection. There are some very original items. I bought a mini food mill and basic French fry cutter. Where else can you buy a propane refrigerator and stove, oil lamps, manual washers and wood stoves? They did a nice job of remodeling. It is, maybe triple the size it was before.

Last night we went to our friend Glenn’s retirement party. Our friends Mark and Dave had prepared the food. It was a good time and their food was delicious. We slept in today. We spent most of Sunday power washing the deck and patio furniture. We cleaned and hung the screens. Finally we changed to hot tub water and are just too tired to do anything else.
