5 down, 1 to go

I weighed in at 233.5 this morning. That’s a 2.5 pound weight loss for the week with a total weight loss of 24.5 pounds after five weeks of my Optifast diet. This is also a significant weight for me. It is the lowest weight that I have been at during the last 2 1/2 years. I was 234 pounds briefly after my heart attack recovery and completing 12 weeks of cardiac rehab.

My surgery date is approaching fast. I’ve fallen into a good routine. I am still getting up at 5:00 a.m. to do the treadmill for 35 minutes. I now have the speed up to 3.5 MPH. I am doing fine on Optifast. I broke the diet several times over the Independence Day holiday. I compensated by doing the treadmill on Saturday and Sunday, the days that I usually do not exercise. I did pay the price. I was 233 on Friday morning. So, I am working to get back to that spot.

My ultimate goal is to have lost 30 pounds by surgery. That is pretty iffy. 5.5 pounds is a nearly impossible goal to achieve in a week. I suspect that I will most likely be at or close to 230 pounds, which was my backup goal. If I can reach that number, I will be ecstatic.
