puerto rican thanksgiving

We left a snowy 27 degree Cleveland this morning and arrived around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon in San Juan with sunny skies and 87 degrees. We met up with our pals Al and Keith at the airport and were off to the hotel. We are staying at the San Juan Hotel Intercontinental Resort and Casino for a few days before we catch our cruise ship.

This afternoon we walked the beach and explored the area. We are in a resort area with high rise hotels and condos. We settled on Thanksgiving dinner at Platos Puerto Rican Cuisine and Bar. I had the Puerto Rican take on Thanksgiving dinner. It was shredded turkey, pork stuffing side, yellow rice and beans and a delicious salad of green plantains in a vinaigrette which was the best part of the meal. Brett had a Puerto Rican shredded pork dinner with fried plantains. The food was great. Just like home they served a huge plate of food which we were unable to make a dent into.

We finished the night soaking in the hot tub and swimming in the resort’s pool. It is still in the high 70s. I guess the temperature varies little in the Caribbean. Tomorrow we are off to explore Old San Juan and possibly a historic fort.
