It was an unexpected perfect fall day for the second day in a row. These days have been rare over the past two rainy weeks. With the temperature approaching 70 and sun coming through the window, I decided to take a half day vacation and go for a bike ride.
My choice was obvious. I love the Ohio Greenway Trail that hugs the Little Beaver Creek between Leetonia and Lisbon. I had biked it this summer when it was a very lush green. This trail is almost completely covered by a canopy of trees its whole length. I knew that it would be the perfect spot for that fall foliage ride.
I didn’t have time to recruit a friend to ride with me. I opted to go it solo today. It was a very relaxing experience.I had stopped at Giant Eagle and made a salad at their salad bar. I packed it and ate it about 45 minutes into the ride. I love this trail because it has picnic tables placed along the route. The chose one under a canopy of yellow and orange leaves. It was just perfect.
I opted to turn around at the 2 mile marker and did not go into Lisbon. The final leg is the least interesting and also shares a road for about 1/2 mile. I did the 16 miles in about 2 hours including lunch and occasional stops for photos.
On my way home I stopped at White House Fruit Farm south of Canfield. I love that place. It has to be the #1 farm market in Ohio. It’s beautiful with plenty of apples, fall stuff, a deli, bakery and many interesting kitchen gadgets and food stuff. I celebrated the day with one of their apple cider cake donuts iced in a cinnamon glaze. This is the best!
I am so happy I took the afternoon off to enjoy our beautiful Ohio fall colors. Ugh, in a few weeks it will all be dull browns and grays for many months.
