Today I am off for a week of cycling the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure, commonly known as GOBA. I have wanted to do this ride since I began cycling four years ago after Bariatric surgery.
I am cycling this week with my friends Paula and Susan. Susan was one of my fellow cofounders of my bicycle club, Spinoff Cyclists Bicycle Club. Paula and I are also part of a larger group of NE Ohio cyclists being supported by Bob of Cuyahoga Valley Enterprises.
I look forward to our daily 45-55 mile rides between small western Ohio towns. Today we are in Urbana. The town went all out with a downtown street fair with entertainment and food. There are about 3,000 cyclists and that is quite a crowd for these small farm towns. Tomorrow we are headed to Troy. I don’t expect to see any Trojans along the road though 🙂
I have come to like these endurance type challenges in my cycling. This is something I could never imagine doing five years ago. I guess I do it because I can. I do it because it is fun. I do it because it makes me appreciate life and try to live it to the fullest.
Tomorrow begins seven days of cycling through the western Ohio farm fields. I will brake for cows!
Have an awesome time!!!
