My father died of heart disease at age 60 in 1970. Although it’s been many years, I still think of him. As I drove to visit my mom in Alliance today, I fondly recalled summer Sunday evenings with my family. My dad loved the “Sunday drive”. This was our family tradition, especially during the summer months. We generally crammed into the Plymouth with my mom,…
Renewed Hope for the Church
Well, I won the NEOS Assembly election as the Akron-Wooster lay delegate to the ELCA 2007 Churchwide Assembly by about 50 votes! As I previously mentioned, my profile clearly showed my involvement in GLBT organizations within the church. Voting members clearly knew my stand on these justice issues. I was also pleased to see the defeat of a mean-spirited resolution to forward a memorial (resolution)…
Election Day Tommorrow for Me
The Northeast Ohio Synod of the ELCA meets in assembly this weekend for it’s annual conference. One of the business items is to elect local representatives to the 2007 biannual ELCA Assembly in Chicago. I decided to run this year as lay representative for the Akron-Wooster Conference. I also felt it important to run as an openly gay candidate. Several other GLBT candidates are on…
Looking Like Summer
It’s really beginning to look like summer here. Our mulching has now turned to the side and back yards. The front landscaping is so green. We added an island with a magnolia that I bought with my gift certificate from my YRT coworkers when I quit last summer. Last fall’s events kept me from visiting Donzells and fall plantings. It looks great and should be…
Mulch, mulch. mulch
We are buried in 14 yards of double shredded mulch. We’ve spent the weekend trimming, weeding, edging and mulching our landscaping. The pile is finally beginning to look smaller. I would complain, but I am happy to be spending the days working in the yard. Although hard work, it is satisfying. Our goal is to have the mulch pile gone by the weekend.

A Victory for Now
The good news tonight was that the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage failed to pass the Senate. The 49 to 48 vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to end debate, thwarting President George W. Bush and his Republican puppet senators who argued that the Constitution must be amended to prevent judges from striking down existing state-level bans on gay marriage. Republicans continue to…
June Childhood Photo
Summer definitely meant fun times at our house. School was out! Our house sat on 10 acres, about 1/2 of which was wooded. We spent countless hours running wild. But then we also spent countless hours mowing about 2 acres of grass. We always had a collie. Remember that Lassie was very popular. My father Jokie and I are pictured with our collie Laddie.
