I checked the calendar and realized that I passed my 8 month bandiversary without making a post. As one of my personal goals, I am posting my weight loss and health progress monthly. This past month I dropped another 4 pounds and weigh-in at 198 pounds. That’s a little slower than I would like. My surgeon is quite happy with the rate of loss. I’ve…
finally spring (sort of…)
Spring arrived today. The reality is that we will have a few weeks of iffy weather. But… grass is greening, trees are budding, daffodils are 6″ tall and tulips are close behind. It won’t be much longer.
judge judy on larry king
The other night Judge Judy appeared on Larry King. She mostly spoke about the financial crisis. At the end of the interview Larry King asked her about California Proposition 8. Below are her comments from the CNN web site. I love Judge Judy. She is my guilty pleasure when I am home from work or on vacation. She is a non-nonsense person. Her response is…
a wii update
A week ago Brett and I got a Wii and Wii Fit. As I mentioned in my last post, I had read a lot of posts on my weight loss discussion boards about how beneficial a Wii Fit is in an exercise program. I was skeptical, but we had wanted a Wii for some time. I figured what the hell and am giving it a…
onederland and other weight related ramblings

There has been a lot of press and blogging going on this week as Prop 8 proponents and opponents in California go before the California Supreme Court tomorrow to challenge the validity of the ballot initiative. Central to this legal challenge is the definition of civil rights and the ability to govern these though ballot initiatives. I came across several references today to a blog…

Over the past 10+ years, the ELCA has been wrestling with sexuality issues, primarily the ordination of LGBT people as pastors and the recognition of same sex relationships…
Baked Fish and Chips
Lent is just a few days away. Every day to and from work I pass a Russian Orthodox Church that has terrific fish fries on Fridays during Lent. These Catholic and Orthodox fish fries are common throughout Northeast Ohio. The Russian Orthodox fry near my house is delicious. What is also nice is the fact that they offer a baked fish alternative to the high…
