Just a short post to say that spring finally arrived. I know it since Brett has mowed and fertilized the lawn this weekend. Our daffodils are up and blooming. The flowering trees are not far behind. We went for a walk today, and it was lovely outside. Now there is so much to do in the coming weeks. As is usually true, the forecast for…
Bad News
We’ve had a stressful two weeks. Abby, our dachshund, was diagnosed with a cancerous mass cell tumor on her rear leg. We’ve had her to an oncologist and the tests came back worse than we hoped. It hasn’t spread from her leg but is fatal if not treated. The options are expensive and pretty scary. It looks like she’ll be going through some chemo and…
Weekend in Columbus
Last night Brett and I attended the Lutherans Concerned Central Ohio annual dinner in Worthington. It was a lovely event that was well planned and extremely well attended with over 100 guests. Pr. Brad Schmeling of Atlanta was the guest speaker. If you have read my prior posts, you know that Brad recently underwent a trial in the ELCA to determine if he should be…
Weekend in the Windy City
Brett and I visited our pals Keith and All this past weekend in Chicago. We thank them for a wonderful time and great company. We had such a good time. Al and Keith planned a whirlwind tour of the city for us. We starteed with deep dish pizza on Friday night at Lou Malnati’s. On Saturday we took the trains downtown to the Sear’s Tower…
Almost There
Bearly Edible, my bear recipe blog, is almost ready. I spent some time this weekend getting the look and feel consistent. I am about ready to invite my friends to register and join me in sharing recipes. This past week, Jason finished my logo. It’s pretty cool. One of the primary things I did this weekend was change the colors, fonts and graphics to coordinate…
Happy Mardi Gras
Another hectic week… I’ve had a busy week at work and at home. Lutherans Concerned has been taking some major time. Good Soil has been working on getting GBLT resolutions out for synod assemblies. It looks like Churchwide Assembly in Chicago will be interesting as the result of the Schmeling ruling. I have been very happy with some graphics work that Jason has been doing…
Perfect Valentine's Gift
On this snowy, cold Valentine’s Day, Brett gave me the perfect gift, a five day trip to Key West and Big Ruby’s on our 18th anniversary in November. We celebrated our 15th anniversary there and had the best time. The bed and breakfast was elegant and in the perfect location. Key West has so much to offer that’s not the typical cookie-cutter Florida destination. Thank…
Snow Day!
Wow! Did we get snow over the past two days. The weather service had said heavy snow was coming. We have been so spoiled this winter with hardly a few minor snowfalls. Over the past 24 hours we received 12″ according to my yardstick. I had gone to work yesterday with no problems. The cold front came in and all hell broke loose. They let…
