The current issue of The Advocate had an intriguing article about Faith in America, a new faith-based initiative to counter the bigotry and misleading ads by the conservative “so-called” Christian organizations. This organization is funded heavily by furniture maker, Mitchell Gold. After visiting the web site I came away very impressed. I urge you to take a look at their site and view their ads. Interesting thing is that Ohio is mentioned as a primary target for this ad campaign. We should be seeing some in the coming months. Hopefully, they will be scheduled to run after Ken Blackwell’s ads. Below is the Faith in America mission statement from their web site.
The mission of Faith in America, Inc. Is the emancipation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from bigotry disguised as religious truth.
Faith in America, Inc. Will utilize newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and film, recognizing that media is the most powerful and effective tool to publicly expose religion-based bigotry against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and to inform the public how women, people of color and people of minority religions have been mistreated similarly by religion in the past.
