The following comes from an email that I received from Equality Ohio. Please read the following and sign the petition.

This election season, if candidates for any office want to climb the political ladder, they’re going to have to do it without stepping on the backs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people.

Demand an end to the assault on LGBT Ohioans for personal political gain – Sign the petition today and help us reach our goal of at least 20,000 signatures so we are heard loud and clear. It is time to stand up for hard-working LGBT Ohioans and families.

We are holding all parties and all candidates accountable. Help put an end to mean-spirited diversions from the real challenges Ohioans face each day. Public servants should serve the public. Let’s make sure our candidates get the message – 20,000 times over.

Please do not use lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Ohioans and families as a divisive distraction from issues that matter most to Ohio voters. In this upcoming election there are many issues that matter to Ohio voters including economic development, government spending, education, and the minimum wage. We, the undersigned, urge you to focus on issues that matter to all families across Ohio in your upcoming campaign. We urge you NOT to use the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community as a divisive distraction from issues that matter. Ohio needs a leader who is focused on uniting Ohioans and strengthening our state. We urge you to be that kind of leader.
