Remembering my dad on Memorial Day

This Memorial Day I remember my Dad, Jokie. He was a WWII veteran and was quite proud of his service to the USA. As a matter of fact, the emblem for the Army’s 6th Armored Division was painted on stone on the top of our fireplace. You can see it in the photo to the left with my father.

My dad organized many army reunions during his life. We had them frequently in Alliance and travelled to cities such as Roanoke, Greenville and Louisville. He formed a strong friendship with his Army pals. Our family lost track of these men over the years., I am sure very few, if any, are left.
