the aftermath

The snow finally stopped falling around 8:00 p.m. last night. We awoke to a sunny morning. It was still so quiet. The road hadn’t been plowed yet and nobody was stirring. The official snow fall was 15″. I measured 14″ yesterday afternoon. I knew it snowed at least another 3″ after that. It most likely is 16-18″. I can’t remember a snow that big in many, many years.

We ventured out this morning to buy groceries. We went to Wal-Mart since it is the closest grocer to us. The roads were still snowy in some areas and very clear in others. The Wal-Mart parking lot was a mess; littered with stuck cars and unplowed areas. The store was packed. Give us 2 days of snow and people think they have to go out an hoard everything.

It was actually a nice few days. We stayed inside and mostly did nothing. We went through several DVDs. I used the spare time to cook us a nice dinner of Chicken Marengo and apple cobbler. It looks like the snow will be short lived with highs in the high 40s and low 50s this week.
