Today I worked on a Habitat for Humanity house with my coworkers. Habitat is a corporate focus of my employer. We had the day off to work on the house. The company provided t-shirts and box lunches. It was a coincidence that the house was the Thrivent Builds home that my Thirvent chapter is sponsoring. So, I got to work with some fellow Lutherans and some of my fellow board members. The weather was perfect; mid 60s and pure sun.
This was a first time at a project for me. It was rewarding and enjoyable. Everyone sort of fell into a job that suited their skill level. I became the “lineman”. We spent the majority of the day nailing down the first floor decking. I was the person who scribed lines on the boards as a guide to where the joists were. I look forward to working on one of these projects in the future.
