With the perfect weather today, I decided to cycle from Kent to Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park this evening. It is a 24 mile roundtrip ride on the Summit Bike and Hike Trail. I am stepping up my cycling to prepare for my Pedal to the Point MS ride this summer. I have ridden about 44 miles over the past 4 days.
This ride was quite an achievement for me. I wanted to see if I could go the distance with minimal stops. I made it to the falls in 1 hour. The return trip was 1 hour 10 minutes. I averaged a little less than 12 mph. That isn’t too bad, but I need to get it up to around 15 mph for the 75 mile ride from Cleveland to Sandusky. Regardless, this was the longest weeknight ride I have done so far. I rode each way without any rest stops. I had a few crossroad stops along the way.
