It’s apple time in Ohio. Here’s a recipe that uses apples in a different way than you would expect. The apple adds moisture and a fresh taste to chicken (or turkey) burgers that are usually dry.
1 apple, finely chopped
4 green onions, chopped
1¼ tsp. poultry seasoning
½ tsp. salt
2 TBS. water
1 lb. ground chicken
In a medium bowl, combine apple, onions, seasonings and water. Add ground chicken and mix well. Shape into 4 patties. Grill over a gas or charcoal fire, covered, for about 15 to 20 minutes, turning once. Serve on buns with honey mustard. Makes 4 burgers.
