Election Day is tomorrow. It appears that Ted Strickland will be our next Governor. Sherrod Brown is leading in the polls, but the race looks close. I think he will pull it off. There are many reasons to support Sherrod Brown. Morality and family values are tossed around by most candidates, usually those with those qualities absent. Sherrod Brown quietly lives these principles in his everyday life and does not use it to grandstand and throw up a smoke screen. As a Lutheran, I would love to see an ELCA member from NE Ohio in the Senate.
I recently came across a great article on the Faithful Democrats web site posted by Sherrod Brown. It is a well written piece on how he translates Christian principles to his role as a public servant. He speaks of moral obligations that government has to the people and the importance of striving for an economy that serves the people and not the other way around. His closing paragraph is one that should clinch the vote for “true” Christians. It is very clear from this why I choose to vote for Sherrod Brown.
We must do all we can to promote human dignity for every single American, no matter how young or old they may be. The greatness of our nation will be measured by whether we protect and respect the well-being and dignity of all of our citizens and seek to promote the common good.
Ted Strickland also has an article on this website. Like Sherrod Brown’s, he speaks of justice and compassion, two words definitely foreign to his opponent, Ken Blackwell. Take a few minutes to read this article before you vote. It is clear who are the real Christians running on family values in Ohio. With their leadership, I am so convinced that the government of Ohio will return to serve and not abuse the people of Ohio. Please vote on Tuesday.
