As I mentioned in an earlier post, the GLBT Task Force of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the ELCA is presenting a half day seminar in February. It will be held on Saturday February 23 at Faith Lutheran Church in Akron (Fairlawn). Faith is across from Marcs‘ and near Summit Mall.
We have an excellent speaker, a gay pastor who was one of the individuals who came out in the Goodsoil Bible Study Book at Churchwide Assembly. He will talk about his life in ministry to the Church as a partnered gay person. We will also have a variety of breakout and joint sessions. I think it will be an excellent morning.
The GLBT Task Force’s mission is to educate members and congregations of the ELCA on GLBT issues. We typically sponsor 2-4 seminars a year which cover topics like inclusiveness, welcoming GLBT people, the Bible and homosexuality and other topics of interest to Lutheran Christians. These are forums where we seek to gather thoughts from across the synod to help us with our ministry.
