more on faith based community organizing

Yesterday was day 2 of my welcoming church program training. It is education of faith-based community organizing. This was formerly the Lutherans Concerned RIC core team training. LC has offered to expand this training to ecumenical partners. In Columbus, we have about equal numbers of people from the United Church of Christ, Presbyterian and ELCA denominations.

Most of Friday was spent on learning how to engage people in one on one conversations. One of the the keys to success in furthering inclusivity in the Church is forming and fostering relationships. Open dialogue leads to a proposition where individuals are asked to join as a partner and help further the cause. It was a day of hands-on interviews. As a techie person, that isn’t the easiest thing.

I am doing OK with my diet. I am avoiding carbs but am most likely still eating too much. I still need to work on knowing when to stop. The good thing is that the meal options have been generally pretty healthy. Exercise wise, I am getting up at 5:30 a.m. and doing the treadmill for 30 minutes. I don’t want to break that routine.
