Today was my first day back to work after our 10 day vacation. I was out of the office for the week before Thanksgiving. I was actually in the office for 2 days over the past three weeks. There was plenty of work and email to sort through today.
More depressing was my weight this morning… 214. I was up 4 pounds to the dreaded 214. I stalled on that weight for months. I hate the number 214. The lapband actually worked well on vacation and kept my appetite in check and hunger level down. There were several episodes where it reminded me in a bad way I had not followed the rules. I suffered the consequences.
I attribute the gain to mojitos and bloody marys. We ran up about $600 in bar charges for the week onboard. Let’s see… There were the afternoons at the pool; happy hours in the Schooner Bar; evenings in the casino; shows in the theater; and Pied Piper parties. Each generally involved at least one drink.
I am not really upset with the gain. I know that at least two will quickly disappear since it is most likely water weight. I hope to get rid of the remaining two by Friday and be back to where I was pre-cruise. I’ve learned that weight loss is not always about the weight. It’s more about changing habits and lifestyle. A week off the wagon for vacation is definitely acceptable in my book. It isn’t something I do that often. I was back on the treadmill at 5:00 a.m. today and back to my normal diet.
Brett has been off all day. Perhaps he is practicing folding his towel creature that I will find on the bed with mints tonight. Where does one learn how to do this towel origami?
Here’s a book on towel folding.
