Regular Aerobic Exercise 2005 (F) 2006 (D) 2007 (F)

This is the worst of my scores, and the area that I am least proud of. I could almost post the same text this year as I did a year ago. I made no improvement but went further downhill in 2007. Here’s my goal for 2007 from last year.

My goal for the coming year is to exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes. These three 30-minute sessions are what the cardiac rehab folks recommend at a minimum level. The ideal thing would be to expand this to 5 30-minute sessions. This is where real weight loss can occur. It’s too far of a stretch for me.

The reality is that I do not exercise regularly at all. I had a few spells where I did some walking, but they never lasted too long. It is hard to take time for exercise. Now that I am driving an additional hour per day, it seems to make it more difficult to find the time. It’s really a poor excuse; especially since my workplace has a well equipped health club on-site. There is just something about work health clubs. They are usually full of athletic, well toned people. I just don’t feel comfortable spending time in that environment.

Now for a goal for 2008…I really have no good excuses not to exercise. My goal is to walk or use the treadmill 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. It’s not a lot to ask. I just need to get into the routine. I make too many others things a priority over exercise. I have to change this pattern. I know very well that I NEED this exercise for weight loss and definitely for good cardiac health.
